Aesthetic Explorations of Attractor Space
Nathan Selikoff has abandoned the predefined processes of production to more fully explore the computational landscape of mathematics and beauty. He uses custom software to investigate strange attractors—visual representations of chaotic dynamical systems. Fascinated by the diversity and complexity of the raw images that come from simple sets of iterated functions, he enjoys the interplay of technical problem solving and artistic spontaneous interactivity.

Society of Stickpeople
This work is an attempt to capture, in one frame, the entire "evolution" of a population of stickmen and stickwomen. An OpenGL program simulates various iconic stages of life—birth, play, love, work, rest, travel, and death—using simple finite state machines. The final images are created by manipulating the rendering style of the program to resemble digital chronophotography, and were chosen out of nearly fifty runs of the simulation.
SIGGRAPH 2006 Art Gallery: Intersections
Juried Exhibition; Boston, MA
July 30 – August 3, 2006
Featuring Society of Stickpeople (captured, #31), and an accompanying Sketch on Digital Chronophotography.
